What is the Slow Mode Feature on Discord?

The slow mode feature restricts users from sending consecutive messages for a duration of time. A user will have to wait for the “cool down time” to be over to send a new message to the channel. This makes it easy for the admins to control a heated conversation or an unusual situation in the server channel. Only users who have “Manage Channel” and “Manage Message” permissions can enable/disable the Sow Mode feature. 

How to Enable the Slow Mode Feature on Discord?

Note that admins and owners of the server will stay immune to the slow mode timer. To enable the slow mode feature, follow the steps demonstrated below.

Step 1: Select the Text Channel

Hover the cursor over the text channel where the Slow Mode has to be enabled and click on the “Edit Channel” icon highlighted below:

Step 2: Select the Slow Mode time

Select the slow mode duration by sliding the pointer to the desired time mark. Afterward, click on the “Save Changes” button. For demonstration, the pointer is slid to the 1-minute mark:

By doing so, members will have to wait for 1-minute every time they want to send a new message.

How to Disable the Slow Mode Feature on Discord?

To disable the slow mode feature on Discord, follow the steps demonstrated below.

Step 1: Select the Text Channel

Step 2: Set the Slow Mode timer off

Set the Slow Mode timer off by sliding the pointer to the “OFF” mark. Afterward, click on the “Save Changes” button:
